Hello, how are you all?
So whilst making the thread and website; I felt that an explanation of the terms used would be a good idea. This way I can explain the ranking system a little more in-depth. As the site is a work in progress I will be updating it regularly to perfect not only the writing/explanations themselves but also the overall appearance.

Chieftain
A fairly easy one, as it's a word known by most today. In Scotland the Chief was the clan (or clann) leader. Clann meaning children. Now, a chief was actually higher ranked than a chieftain, who were known as "branch chiefs" (the heads of branches of a clan.) However for the purposes of this pack rp, they will be one in the same. think of them as the Alpha.
Caiptean
Scots Gaelic for "captain". A fairly self-explanatory rank. Think of them as the Beta.
Bidh luchd-ceannais
Scots Gaelic for "leaders". Think of them as the Deltas. They start off as a member of kin, then if they have proven that they are, for example, an actively participating member, they may be promoted. There are only 4 members in this group, one "leader" for each of the main sub-ranks.
Luaidhe sealgair - Lead hunter
Ghaisgeach - Warrior - Originally what the sub-rank was going to be named, however I felt that "soldier" suited the sub-rank better.
Ceannard na ro-theachdair - Head of the vanguard
Draoidh - shaman/wizard/magician - words along those lines. (See druid.) In this case one who has mastered the use and knowledge of herbal and medicinal plant matter.
Comhairle
Scots Gaelic for council. Slightly higher ranked than regular members. A platform of communication between the high ranking members and the kin during times of crisis. If a member has caused multiple disruptions, or has been a major cause for concern (in instances where banning or a similar punishment may be in order) then a member from this group will be asked to oversee the process to ensure it has been conducted in a fair manner.
Kin
The pack is more than just a member of a hierarchy. They are a part of the close-knit family. Whether they were born into it, or have joined from the outside. Hence why they are referred to as kin.
Sealgairean
Scots Gaelic for "hunters."
Saighdearan
Scots Gaelic for "soldiers."
Na ro-theachdair
Scots Gaelic for "the vanguard." It is described as "the foremost part of an advancing army or naval force." Therefore it made sense to me to use this as the rank name. This rank are similar to scouts/spies. They scout out potential enemies, hunting prospects alongside their fellow "hunters", and patrol the borders with their fellow "soldiers".
Luibh-allaidh
Scots Gaelic for "herb-wolf." a rather more literal translation than the other ranks, but I feel it still fits well with what we are doing.
Glic fheadhainn
Scots Gaelic for "wise ones."
Preantas
Scots Gaelic for "apprentice."
Cuileanan
Scots Gaelic for "pups."
Lag aon
Scots Gaelic for "weak one." This is more of a punishment rank than anything else. If your in this rank you are still eligible to redeem yourself and take your place back into the packs kin.
